for Civil Society Mid-Term World Report on the Culture of Peace


[WHAT?]
UNOY Peacebuilders offers 10 young people the unique opportunity to get training to advocate for a Culture of Peace and present the Civil Society Midterm World Report on the Culture of Peace to country delegations during the 60th General Assembly of the United Nations. We will support financially at least one youth representative to travel to New York in October 2005.

[WHY?]
Contribute to develop a culture of peace and non-violence
Be linked to a global network of young peacebuilders
Be inspired and learn from others
Receive training on advocacy
Know the United Nations system and organizations working in peace-building

[WHO? Selection criteria]

Young people between the ages of 18 and 25 committed to build a Culture of Peace who have:
a) Experience in peace-building work
b) been actively involved in promoting the involvement of youth/organisations in the Mid Term World Report on the Culture of Peace and/or who plans an activity for the 21st September YOUth ACTion Peace Day*
c) a strong motivation and willingness to engage in follow-up activities. The criteria will also take into consideration
d) gender and geographical balance
e) Ability to communicate well in English, other languages will be a plus.

[HOW TO PARTICIPATE?]
If you would like to apply, please, send us:

1. Your CV (Please, include your nationality and date of birth)

2. A letter of motivation explaining why you would like to go to New York to advocate for peace and present the Civil Society Mid-Term World Report on the Culture of Peace. Please, include any experience in peace-building work and any involvement in promoting the Mid-Term World Report on the Culture of Peace

3. A summary of the planned activity for 21st September * (max. 2 pages) including:

1. Name of the organization

7. Brief description of the activity (include “what”, “why”, “how”; “with whom” that is names of the organizing team
8. Approx. total number of people who will participate
