Winners of Council of Europe 2011 Youth Media Award

Media freedom was chosen as the theme for the 2011 Council of Europe award, which was organised with the European Youth Press. The competition was made open to journalists under the age of 30 from 47 member states.
The award features four main categories, with each entry judged according to its originality, technical quality and understanding of the subject.
The work of Emmanuel Haddad from Spain, was considered the best among the written press entries. Photographer Ramin Mazur from Moldova, triumphed in the photo-journalism category and the best radio interview honour went to Jerneja Zavec from Slovenia. The winners of the video journalism prize were Eszter Cseke and Andras Takacs from Hungary.
The winners will receive €1000 and an invitation to attend and cover next month’s Parliamentary Assembly session. The prizes will be presented by the Assembly’s President Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on 5 October.
