Violation flagrante des droits humains ce matin en marge du SMSI

Sous les yeux incrédules de participants au Sommet mondial sur la société de l'information (SMSI), des journalistes et défenseurs des droits humains tunisiens se font bousculer, insulter, puis frapper violemment.
Lundi matin, 14 novembre 2005, 9h30, place d'Afrique à Tunis. Plus de trente policiers en civil attendent avec impatience des délégués internationaux et tunisiens, membres de la société civile. Omar Mestiri, directeur du magazine en ligne Kalima (µhttp://www.kalimatunisie.com) et membre fondateur du conseil national pour les libertés en Tunisie (CNLT) se fait prendre à partie dès son arrivée sur les lieux où devait avoir lieu une réunion du comité coordonnateur du Sommet Citoyen sur la société de l'information (SCSI). Abreuvé de coups et d'injures, M. Mestiri a gardé le calme, avant de pouvoir se défaire du groupe de policiers en civil.

Flagrante violación a los derechos humanos esta mañana en Túnez, al margen de la CMSI

Ante la mirada incrédula de los participantes de la Cumbre Mundial sobre la Sociedad de la Información (CMSI), periodistas y defensores/as de los derechos humanos de Túnez recibieron empujones, insultos y golpes violentos de la policía local. Omar Mestiri, director de la revista en línea Kalima (µhttp://www.kalimatunisie.com) y miembro fundador del Consejo nacional por las libertades en Túnez (CNLT), fue atacado por la policía al llegar al sitio donde debía desarrollarse una reunión del comité de coordinación de la Cumbre Ciudadana sobre la Sociedad de la Información (CCSI). A pesar de los golpes y los insultos, Mestiri mantuvo la calma hasta que logró escapar del grupo de policías de civil.
Los 30 hombres de civil la tomaron primero contra Om Zied, redactora jefa de Kalima, una revista que investiga la corrupción, registra las violaciones a los derechos humanos y señala las disfunciones del sistema judicial de Túnez. Frente a la agresividad y violencia de las autoridades, Om Zied se hizo camino hasta un taxi y abandonó el lugar. Under the incredulous eyes of the participants at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), journalists and human rights defenders were manhandled, insulted, and then violently beaten.
09.30 am of Monday, November 14, 2005, at the Place d'Afrique in Tunis, more than 30 plainclothes policemen impatiently awaited international and Tunisian delegates and members of civil society. Omar Mestiri, Director of the online magazine Kalima (http://www.kalimatunisie.com) and a founder member of the National Council for Freedom in Tunisia (Conseil national pour les libertés en Tunisie - CNLT) was seized as soon as he arrived at the site for the meeting of the coordinating committee of the Citizens' Summit on the Information Society (CSIS). Bombarded with blows and insults, Mr. Mestiri kept calm, before he was able to break away from the group of plainclothes policemen.
