Young Peacebuilders and other Culture of Peace news

The following extract is from a regular newsletter sent by David Adams of the Decade for a Culture of Peace.

Dear Friends,

We are beginning to prepare for the UN General Assembly discussion on the Culture of Peace Decade. Young people will be trained to advocate and present the Culture of Peace Midterm Report through a public event and personal visits to country missions at the UN next October 3-14 in New York. The program is sponsored by the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), under the auspices of the Fundación Cultura de Paz and in collaboration with The Hague Appeal for Peace and Global Youth Action Network. For more information on this unique opportunity for young people, visit: www.unoy.org, or contact campaign@unoy.org

One function of this newsletter is to inform you of other information systems for the culture of peace. In the field of information and education, the Good News Agency - one of the six organizations mentioned in the research summary as important initiatives already underway – has published the introductory letter and the summary of the research, and it will include in a future issue an interview with Fundación president, Federico Mayor. This e-newsletter is distributed free of charge in 49 countries and you can subscribe to it by writing to s.tripi@tiscali.it

Another initiative is the Culture of Peace News Network. In addition to the USA site (CPNN-USA.ORG), there is now a Canadian site at CPNN-CANADA.CA.

I look forward to hearing from you and working with you to promote the global movement for a culture of peace during the second half of the Decade.

Peace,

David Adams
